442 MILLENNIUM W ith her multifaceted abilities, Ronnie Chalif has been able to make a name for herself in medicine and the creative arts. Ms. Chalif worked as a buyer for I. Magnin & Company, based in New York City, from 1954 to 1959. Always having a knack for creativity, she delved into fine arts with sculpting and painting, and has been doing so successfully for over 40 years, often having her works exhibited at one- woman shows in galleries and museums across New York City, Washington and New Jersey. She has even had her work represented in permanent collections at the Sculpture Garden of the Gus & Judy Leiber Museum. One of her greatest achievements was co-founding the Neuropathy Association, for which she also served as director and honorary president from 1995 to 2009. Ms. Chalif remains active in her field as a member of the Women’s Caucus for Art, the Women in Arts Foundation, the National Association of Women Artists, Inc., and the New York Society of Women Artists. She has been featured in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of American Women. E ngineering educators like Chunduri Venkata Chelapati have the responsibility of teaching courses pertaining to the application of physical laws and principles of engineering for the development of machines, materials, instruments, processes and services. For 63 years Dr. Chelapati has taught many engineering subjects to graduate and undergraduate students at universities in India, Illinois, and California. He became involved in his profession because engineers are highly respected in his home country of India and there were very few people in that field when he began his career in 1954. Currently, he serves as president of C. V. Chelapati & Associates, Inc., a position he has held since 1979. While Dr. Chelapati does not have a singular highlight in his career, he is proud of his profession as a whole. Yet with construction still needed throughout the world, there are more opportunities in the field of engineering to pursue. He remains a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society for Engineering Education, the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California, the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, Seismological Society of America, the American Concrete Institute and the American Institute of Steel Construction.
