19 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine C ertified by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties, Wilfred W. Acholonu is a clinical pharmacy specialist and educator with over three decades of experience in the field. Dr. Acholonu became involved in his profession because he was knowledgeable about medicinal roots and plants after working with his father and was interested in further exploring how drugs worked. He began his career as a resident at the VA Medical Center in Portland, Ore., from 1983 to 1984. He continued to progress in the field as a staff pharmacist at Olin E. Teague Veteran’s Medical Center in Temple, Texas and served in a similar position at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla., in 1989. While working there, he also delved into education as an associate clinical professor of pharmacy practice and a clinical pharmacy specialist, remaining in the latter position since 1994. Dr. Acholonu has utilized his expertise to contribute articles to professional journals in the field. He remains a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists. He has been featured in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the World. To prepare for his career, Dr. Acholonu earned a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy in 1980 and a Master of Science in pharmacology and toxicology in 1984, both from Oregon State University. He also received a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida in 1994. With resilience and the ability to pursue diverse interests in science, education and management, he obtained an executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida. Wilfred W.
