82 MILLENNIUM B acked by nearly 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Theresa Cheng has strengthened her leadership skills in the medical field as director of medical operations for the Affinity Health System in Oshkosh, Wis. Since 2007, Dr. Cheng has utilized her expertise to treat problems of the nervous system, including strokes, tumors and issues with the brain and spine. Prior to her current role, she was a teaching assistant and research assistant at Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin. She has also worked at the Mayo Clinic and for Luther Midelfort Mayo Health Systems as a neurosurgery resident, postdoctoral fellow of molecular genetics, special fellow of neurosurgery, neurosurgery consultant, and chairman of the department of neurosurgery. Dr. Cheng continues to be an active member of her community, serving on the boards of numerous medical organizations. She was elected to the medical executive committee of Luther Midelfort Mayo Health Systems in 2001 and has been on the board of directors of Gold Cross Ambulance Service since 2002. She completed a summer research fellowship through the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1983, was named a College Scholar by the American Association of University Women in 1979, and received a grant from the Mayo Clinic in 1992. Dr. Cheng is a master of the Epilepsy Foundation in Western Wisconsin and a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Association for Cancer Research, the Wisconsin State Medical Society, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Caduceus Society. Dr. Cheng holds a degree in biomedical engineering from Marquette University and an MD and PhD from the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is certified in advanced cardiac life support by the American Heart Association and advanced trauma life support by the American College of Surgeons, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons.
