141 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine W ith the vast amount of established mental disorders and new ones continually developing, it is imperative to have skilled and dedicated doctors in the field of psychiatry. Dr. Alfred Forrester is one such physician who is devoted to preventing and treating many of the mental disorders associated with psychiatric patients. Although his mother was a registered nurse and his father a psychologist, he became interested in the correlation between brain and behavior during high school. This led him to pursue a dual major in psychology and biology, attend medical school, and complete residency training and an advanced fellowship in psychiatry. Dr. Forrester started out as a medical resident at Mount Auburn Hospital and soon ventured into the subspecialty of psychiatry, becoming a resident at Johns Hopkins University. He continued there as a research fellow for one year and began serving as an instructor in 1986. One year later, he became a clinical assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at the University of Maryland. Dr. Forrester’s experience led him to open his own private practice in Maryland, where he works one-on-one with patients to assess, manage and make recommendations for pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical practices in the management of psychiatric disorders. He is a Lifetime Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and currently works as a health professional for nutraMetrix, a nutraceutical supplement company with which he has been affiliated since 2010. In 2016, he became the medical director of New Life Addiction Counseling &Mental Health Services, which addresses the needs of patients suffering from substance use disorders and a variety of psychiatric conditions. Dr. Forrester oversees a full range of services there, including medication-assisted treatment for those patients who suffer from alcohol or opioid dependence. In addition to his fruitful career as a psychiatrist, he has contributed articles to professional journals in his field and has worked as a director of psychiatric services for Chase Brexton Health Services. His strong belief that psychiatrists play a pivotal role in the lives of their patients is what makes Dr. Forrester a constant asset to the field of medicine. Alfred W.
