206 MILLENNIUM J ane Hutchison is an art history educator and researcher who is well-versed in her field and specializes in the art of Germany, Flanders and Holland between the years of 1350 and 1900. With her passion for art, Professor Emerita Hutchison embarked on what would prove to be a prosperous career. She received a Bachelor of Arts in fine arts at Western Maryland College in 1954, a Master of Arts in art history in 1958, and a PhD in art history at the University of Wisconsin in 1964. She used her credentials to obtain a job as a technical illustrator for a division of the U.S. Navy. After serving in that role for two years, she began using her research skills as a research librarian at the Toledo Museum of Art before hopping on the education track as a teaching assistant at the University of Wisconsin and visiting assistant professor at Temple University. Professor Emerita Hutchison would make the University of Wisconsin her home and flourish in several other positions, including department chairman, instructor, associate professor, and professor. Professor Emerita Hutchison has researched and written books on art history and has served on the editorial board of Studies in Iconography since 1997. Over the course of her 60-year career, she has received many acknowledgments and awards, both nationally and internationally, including an Alumni Award from the Western Maryland College board of trustees and participation in the Fulbright scholarship program at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Her dedication to her field continues through her memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Association of University Professors, the College Art Association and the Midwest Art History Society, for which she held the positions of board member, secretary, treasurer and president. In addition to her teaching career, Professor Emerita Hutchison has been an expert witness for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and is currently imparting her knowledge as a consultant in her field.
