364 MILLENNIUM C urrently an attorney at Harvey Sproul Law Offices, Harvey Leonard Sproul has climbed the ladder of success in the legal field through hard work and determination. Throughout his career of five decades, he has made partner at many firms in Tennessee, including Dannel & Sproul, Sproul & Russell, Sproul & Bailey, Sproul & Harvey, and Sproul & Hinton. From 1966 to 1974 he served as a judge and mayor for the county of Loudon. He later served as principal of Harvey L. Sproul Law Office in Lenoir City, an attorney for the Lenoir City Board of Education, county attorney for Loudon County, judge advocate general, and as chairman of the board of directors of the Mid East CCA. His work in the field earned him the Robert E. Gonia Regional Leadership Award in 2002, induction into the Leadership Hall of Fame in 2011, and recognition as Outstanding Person of the Year from London Country in 2015. Mr. Sproul remains active in the field through his affiliations with and memberships in the American Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association. He was president of the Tennessee County Attorneys Association from 1997 to 1998 and held leadership roles as president of the Loudon County Bar Association in 1969, vice president of the Tennessee Council School Board Attorneys in 1995, and vice president of the Tennessee County Judges Association from 1972 to 1974. To prepare for his career Mr. Sproul earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 1955 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee in 1957. After graduating, he gained admittance to the Tennessee Bar, the U.S. District Court, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
