368 MILLENNIUM A s a credentialed teacher in the state of California, Sharon Stange Domenigoni has honed her skills as a science educator for over four decades. Growing up near a creek, Ms. Domenigoni became interested in the field of science because of her fascination with animals. After beginning her career as a teaching assistant at Kiddie Korners Preschool in Hemet, Calif., she continued to excel in the field as a biology lab assistant and environmental science teacher at Mount San Jacinto College, substitute teacher in the Hemet Unified School District, and science teacher for the San Jacinto Unified School District. She continued to remain heavily involved in the field through her service at Monte Vista Middle School. While at the institution, she has been a science fair coordinator, cheerleading advisor, and science club advisor. She currently serves as the science department chair, chair for the Gene Lombard Memorial Scholarship, and green schools coordinator and mentor teacher for the San Jacinto Unified School District. Outside of her career Ms. Domenigoni is an avid believer in giving back to the community. She is the scholarship chair for several organizations, has served as leader of the neighborhood watch, and is co-founder of the Valley Youth Task Force for the Hemet and San Jacinto regions. Her contributions to the field have earned her many awards, including the We Honor Ours Award from the California Teachers Association in 1992 and 1994 and the California Environmental Education Award from the state of California in 1995. To prepare for her career, Ms. Domenigoni earned an Associate of Arts from Mt. San Jacinto College, a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, and a master’s degree from the University of La Verne.
