386 MILLENNIUM A s a pharmacist, Dr. Kelly A. Tomo is responsible for reviewing and interpreting physicians’ orders, filling prescriptions, monitoring drug therapies, and advising patients on the safest and most effective usage of their medications. Dr. Tomo became involved in her profession because she wanted to help others while simultaneously making a difference in the world through the field of medicine. To prepare for her career, she received a doctor of pharmacy from Ohio Northern University in 2003 and a year later completed a residency in pharmaceutical practice through the Inova Health System. Dr. Tomo previously worked at a trauma center in Virginia, where she was responsible for three facilities, each offering specialized services. Of those facilities, one provided medical care to women and children, one focused on general medicine, and the third, which recently celebrated three decades of providing outstanding care to patients, was focused on cardiovascular medicine. She was a pharmacist with the Inova Health System for almost 15 years before relocating to Pennsylvania to be closer to her family. While acclimating herself to her surroundings and reconnecting with friends and loved ones, she is currently open to new opportunities. Having done extensive volunteer work with World Vision Inc. and Campus Crusade for Christ International, now Cru, Dr. Tomo remains passionate about using her background and skills to provide others with a better quality of life. In recognition of these efforts, she has received the Marquis Humanitarian Award and was recognized as a Marquis Lifetime Achiever. A member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, she has been named to Elite Women Worldwide for her professional accomplishments and longevity in the field. Kelly A.
