401 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine A s a child, Harold Wanebo always had an interest in biology and science. Currently a professor of surgery at the Boston University School of Medicine and a professor of surgery and director of surgical oncology at Brown University, Dr. Wanebo has proven to be a force in the medical field. Before embarking on his career, he obtained a Bachelor of Science from Regis College and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Colorado. Upon receiving his credentials, he became an intern in the Cornell Medical Division of Bellevue Hospital and later a resident. From 1963 to 1965 and again from 1967 to 1969, he served as a surgical resident at the University of California Medical Center. He also served as a fellow in tumor immunology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from 1965 to 1967. Dr. Wanebo continued to flourish in his career, taking on roles with Memorial Sloan-Kettering as a senior surgical fellow, clinical assistant, attending surgeon, assistant attending surgeon, associate scientist, and consultant for the clinical immunology service. Soon after, he delved into the education field as an instructor of surgery and assistant professor of surgery at Cornell University. Being well-versed, he also held positions as chief of the division of oncology and professor of surgery at the University of Virginia and as an editor for the Surgical Clinics of North America journal. Due to the experience he gained, he was selected to edit many other scientific and medical publications and presented papers he wrote at professional conferences. Dr. Wanebo remains a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Association for Cancer Education, the American Association of Immunologists, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, amongst other medical organizations.
