434 MILLENNIUM A licensed teacher of dance at the early childhood, recreational, junior high school and high school levels, Helene C. Andreu has been involved in the performing arts as a singer, dancer and choreographer since the start of her career in 1957. Throughout her career, Ms. Andreu has held positions as a dance instructor for private dance studios in Brooklyn, Board of Education after-school centers, the Board of Education of Adult Education, and Henry Street Settlement. Additionally, she has served as a volunteer teacher of history for Brooklyn Lifelong Learning as well as the Brooklyn Public Library Literacy Program. She has utilized her many talents as an author and photographer whose works include “Jazz Dance: An Adult Beginner's Guide,” “Aerobic Razzmatazz-12 Workouts by 12 Minutes Each,” “Jazz Dance Styles and Steps for Fun,” “Dance, Movement, and Nutrition: Fitness Minutes for a Healthier Life,” and “DANCE - An Illustrated History.” She continues to be an active member of the Actors Equity Association. Ms. Andreu earned a Bachelor of Arts from the City University of New York and a Master of Arts in dance education from Columbia University. D r. John Andrick currently serves as a panelist and moderator at conferences throughout the United States. Formerly employed by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s University Library, where he managed the circulation department and high-density shelving facility, he recently defended his dissertation, “AModern Mecca of Psychic Forces: The Psychical Science Congress and the Culture of Progressive Occultism in Fin-de-Siècle Chicago, 1885- 1900,” to obtain a Ph.D. from the institution. Dr. Andrick has contributed scholarly articles to several professional journals, including the Journal of the History of the Behavioral Sciences and the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis. Having previously been a public school teacher and graduate research assistant, he has held several leadership roles throughout his career that expanded his knowledge and deepened his expertise. A few of his papers have been presented at conferences and professional meetings of several organizations with which he is affiliated, namely the Organization of American Historians and the American Association for the History of Medicine.
