436 MILLENNIUM B etty Barbe is a marketing professional with immense experience in the field. Ms. Barbe was a retired financial analyst before embarking on a career in insurance. Her husband worked for leading insurance company The Hartford, her son is a certified financial planner, and her younger son also ventured into insurance after graduating from college, so it was only fitting that she would follow in her family’s footsteps. She began her career at Allstate, then became a licensed Series 6 securities representative with Primerica Financial Services and earned a fixed annuity certification with the goal of helping people prepare for retirement. Those experiences would lead her to take on other finance roles as secretary for the vice president of cost accounting for Craftmaster; secretary and estimator for Grinnell Fire Protection; and assistant city clerk and tax administrator for the city of Perrysburg. Ms. Barbe has been recognized many times for her efforts in civic engagement as the Rookie Rotarian of the Year, an honoree of the Girl Scouts of Maumee Valley Council, and Woman of the Year. She believes that being successful means achieving one’s goals in business and as a volunteer. P atricia Louise Barker is a nurse practitioner with immense knowledge of the health field who has served Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center for nine years. Aside from practicing, she has also been an educator, an associate professor of nursing and a director of online education for Central Colorado AHEC. In addition to traditional forms of health care, Ms. Barber believes that there are great benefits to pet therapy. She developed an interest in the subject after bringing her dog with her on a visit to her mother in a nursing home. To a family’s surprise, the relative they were visiting responded verbally at the sight of her dog, something she had not done for a while. Ms. Barber, who specializes in online distance learning and training in high-fidelity human/patient simulation, received the Faculty Gold Award from the Colorado Community College System in 2005. She remains active in her field as a member of the North American Transplant Coordinators Organization, the American Diabetes Association, and the National Kidney Foundation.
