438 MILLENNIUM B ruce Birch, a retired theology studies educator, is a devout student of religion. Dr. Birch began his career back in 1965, after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in divinity at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Soon after graduating, he received a certificate of ordination from the United Methodist Church and later obtained a master’s degree and PhD at Yale University. His dedication to religion catapulted him into a fruitful career, which he began as an assistant professor; he served two years at Iowa Wesleyan College and one year at Erskine College. His knack for teaching led to his promotion from assistant professor to professor of Old Testament and biblical theology at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., where he also became a dean after proving to be a master educator. Aside from teaching, Dr. Birch has authored and co-authored various books on theology and religion. Although he is retired, he is still active, serving as a member of the Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies, on the board of trustees at Moscow Theological Seminary of the United Methodist Church, and as a consultant for Wesley Theological Seminary. J ames Dodson Bishop is a tactful lawyer who has worked hard to maintain his three- decade legacy. Mr. Bishop received a Bachelor of Arts in political science, magna cum laude, at Lincoln University and a Juris Doctor from Howard University. After earning his degrees, Mr. Bishop passed both the Pennsylvania and D.C. bar exams. He began his career serving as director of the attorney/client arbitration board for the D.C. Bar. Six years later he became chair of the diversity committee of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, Inc. and was soon after promoted to director of the organization’s legal network. His civic duties include being a mediator for the D.C. Superior Court and on the board of directors of the Council for Court Excellence. His memberships include the John Carroll Society and the D.C. Bar Foundation Scoutt Prize committee. Being a man of faith, Mr. Bishop is affiliated with the Ministry of Tourism. He has reached many heights in his career, including receiving the Benemerenti Medal from the Archdiocese of Washington and the order of merit award from the Griffith Foundation.
