440 MILLENNIUM S arah Brown is a southern painter who is well-versed in a variety of subjects. Ms. Brown received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in figure drawing and figure painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After graduating, she became a ceramics teacher at Pensacola Junior College, and later the director of the art department. With a desire to continue painting and showcasing her work, Ms. Brown opened her first art studio in New Orleans in 1959. She later relocated her studio to Atlanta, spending over 20 years in the area. Her artwork has been featured in various exhibitions and taken home the first place prize. She is associated with various art organizations, including NLAPW, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the Portrait Society of America. One of her greatest achievements was being commissioned by Atlanta Ducks Unlimited to design the first Georgia State Ducks Unlimited poster. Although no longer formally teaching, Ms. Brown shares her skills with individuals who want to learn to draw figures and paint in individual and group sessions. B orn in Paris, Delphine Brownlee became interested in the entertainment profession after having backstage access to her dad’s opera shows in Paris, at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, as well as many other opera houses around the world. She began her career in 1981 as an adjunct professor at Montclair State University, where she served for three years before becoming a faculty member at the Hackley School and the Mount Kisco School of Music. Ms. Brownlee’s abilities have aided in her successfully offering voice lessons for all ages in her private studio, which she has done for over 40 years. Other accomplishments throughout her career include doing several voice-overs for television and radio commercials, participating in recitals at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, performing opera at Singers Theatre, and being a part of the original casts of “Man of La Mancha,” “Fade Out – Fade In,” “Here’s Love” and “Carnival!” She remains active in her field through her affiliations and memberships in the New York Singing Teachers’ Association, the New York State Music Teachers Association and the Actors’ Equity Association.
