For 63 years Dr. Chelapati has taught many engineering subjects to graduate and undergraduate students at universities in India, Illinois, and California. Currently, he serves as president of C. V. Chelapati & Associates, Inc., a position he has held since 1979. While Dr. Chelapati does not have a singular highlight in his career, he is proud of his profession as a whole. Yet with construction still needed throughout the world, there are more opportunities in the field of engineering to pursue. He remains a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society for Engineering Education, the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California, the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, Seismological Society of America, the American Concrete Institute and the American Institute of Steel Construction.
