471 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine A s a sociologist, Bruce Edward Keith studies societies and social behavior by examining the groups, cultures, organizations and social institutions that people develop. To prepare for his career Dr. Keith earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from WesternWashington University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska. Throughout his career he has held many positions, including assistant professor of sociology, assistant dean of academy assessment, associate professor of sociology, associate dean of academy affairs, and professor of sociology. He has penned himself an author of many works, including “Inside West Virginia” and “Contexts for Learning,” and has contributed scientific papers and articles to professional journals in the field. Additionally, he is a Fulbright Scholar and an academy liaison and course instructor at Addis Ababa University, a liaison for the International Study Abroad Program at Taiwan Academy, and has served on the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and the Association of American Colleges &Universities since 1999 and 2005 respectively. Dr. Keith remains a member of the SystemDynamics Society, the American Sociological Association, and Association of American Colleges &Universities. A s a certified family life educator, Dr. Nancy M. Kingsbury Smyrski embarked on an educational journey of her own, obtaining a Master of Education and PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1976 and 1983, respectively. After obtaining her doctorate, Dr. Kingsbury Smyrski began her career as an associate professor at the University of Manitoba from 1983 to 1992. She was a department chairman and professor at Texas Woman’s University from 1992 to 1997 and completed postgraduate work at Harvard University during her tenure. She continued to progress professionally, serving as dean of applied sciences and technology at Ball State University from 2002 until her retirement in 2007, and she completed additional postgraduate work through Harvard University in 2004. Throughout her career she has contributed articles to scientific journals, and she co-authored a book titled “Sourcebook of Family Theory and Methods.” Dr. Kingsbury Smyrski is a member of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, the Groves Conference on Marriage and Family, and the National Council on Family Relations. She was previously affiliated with the Family Resource Center of North Texas from 1995 to 1997.
