482 MILLENNIUM C ertified management consultant and municipal administrator, James L. Mercer has been helping organizations solve issues, maximize growth and improve business performance for over five decades. Mr. Mercer earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nevada respectively and completed postgraduate work in the executive development program at Cornell University. He began his career as a methods and results supervisor for Pacific Telephone &Telephone for a year before obtaining a position as a production control supervisor at General Dynamics. Throughout the length of his career, he has utilized his experience and skills to obtain many leadership positions, including being a management consultant in Atlanta, chief of the industrial extension division and director of the Georgia Productivity Center at Georgia Institute of Technology as well as regional vice president of Wolfe & Associates, Inc. Since 1990 Mr. Mercer has served as the president, chief executive officer, and chairman of The Mercer Group, Inc. With vast knowledge and experience he has authored many books and contributed articles to professional journals. He remains active as a member of many organizations in his field. W ith a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University, a Juris Doctor from Duke University and admittance into the Ohio state bar, Donald H. Messinger embarked on a career in the legal field. Mr. Messinger has dedicated 49 years to the law firm of Thompson Hine LLP. He worked for the firm as an associate in 1968 and rose to prominence as the vice chair of the corporate practice group in 1989. From 1991 to 1996, he served as partner-in-charge of the Cleveland office and was elected as a member of the executive committee from 1996 to 2000. Currently Mr. Messinger serves as partner, a position he has held since 1976. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association where he served as trustee from 1975 to 1979 and chairman of the securities law institute in 1983. In addition to his legal career, he has served as secretary and on the board directors of the American Steel & Wire Corporation and Lee Wilson Engineering Company, Inc., and on the board of directors of Cedar Fair Management Company and other civic organizations.
