490 MILLENNIUM N ancy Oprsal had the teaching gene at a very young age. In school, friends would rely on her to explain the solutions to difficult homework problems. Realizing that she was able to help others in the learning process, Ms. Oprsal decided that teaching was her calling. She began her career as a pre- school music teacher at Greenhill School in Dallas from 1948 to 1953. After teaching in Denver Public Schools from 1953 to 1955, she worked in other schools, including Fort Worth Public Schools, the Dallas Independent School District, the Del Paso Heights School District, and the San Juan Unified School District in Sacramento, Calif., until her retirement. Ms. Oprsal believes that the most important components of teaching are having a mission, core values and a vision, and that teachers should be compassionate, dedicated and observant. After her retirement, Ms. Oprsal has volunteered in her community. She received the National Thousand Points of Light in February of 2001. She was the Volunteer of the Year for 2017 for Family Promise of Sacramento and continues to help children grow and develop. A s the president and chief executive officer of Demarche Consulting Group Linda Lee Paralez has worked with more than 50 cities, municipalities, and public districts helping organizations solve issues, create value, maximize growth and improve business performance for nearly 43 years. Prior to forming Demarche Consulting Group, Dr. Paralez's experience in her career at NASA’s Space Operations rocket manufacturing facility was critical to determining the reasons for the Challenger disaster, and solutions to avoid another similar disaster. Her contributions there as a project manager, and then programmanager, provided introduction to the deeming concepts of total quality management, work- center design and statistical process control. Throughout her career, Dr. Paralez has published more than 25 articles and books on asset management, benchmarking methodology, strategic planning, entrepreneurship, performance measures, business process management and design, education strategy, and other management strategies. Her extensive career is backed by an Associate of Science from Amarillo College, a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Master of Business Administration and a Ph.D. in business and management and economics fromCentury University.
