500 MILLENNIUM A fter obtaining a Bachelor of Arts and later a JD from the University of Chicago, Jean Snyder was an attorney and partner in the firm of D’Ancona & Pflaum. She then went into private practice as principal of the Law Office of Jean Maclean Snyder before returning to her alma mater as trial counsel for the Roderick and Solange MacArthur Justice Center. Now a member of the teaching team for the University of Chicago’s Intensive Trial Practice Workshop, she is part of a network of people training tomorrow’s legal professionals in trial preparation and advocacy through a variety of simulated exercises. Having served on numerous committees as a member of the American Bar Association and co-chaired a task force on gender, racial and ethnic bias in litigation, Ms. Snyder has experience in several areas of the law. Additionally, she is a former member of the Lawyers for the Creative Arts board of directors and was previously affiliated with the ACLU of Illinois. In 2012, Ms. Snyder received an Excellence Award from the Northern District of Illinois U.S. District Court for her public service. W ilma Marie Springer is a retired elementary school educator with over four decades of experience. To prepare for her career, Ms. Springer earned a Bachelor of Arts from Goshen College in 1956 and a Master of Science from Bradley University in 1960. Throughout her career, she held teaching positions at many elementary schools in California. Ms. Springer has written articles for professional journals in her field and received the Instructional Improvement Program grant from the state of California from 1986 to 1987, the Recognition Award from the Regional Educational TV Advisory Council in 1986, and the Cathedral Star Award from the Women’s Ministries of Crystal Cathedral in 1985. In addition to her achievements, she received the presidential citation in 2008 from Toastmasters, the Ambassador of Zion Award from Shimon Perez in 2015 and has served on the panel of the E2K (Education into the 21st Century). Ms. Springer continues to be active in her field as a member of the National Education Association, the California Teachers Association, the Bellflower Education Association, and Toastmasters International.
