232 MILLENNIUM S teven Jay Kumble, founding member of Corinthian Capital Group, LLC, is a man whose assertiveness and skill have led to a fulfilling career. Mr. Kumble received an Ivy League education, first at Yale University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1954, and then at Harvard Law School, where he obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1959. The following year, Mr. Kumble passed the bar exam, thus enabling him to embark on a career in corporate law. He began his career as a founding member and partner of Finley, Kumble, Wagner, Underberg, Manley & Casey. He went on to serve as of counsel for Summi Rovins and Feldesman and then partnered with the late Frank C. Wright and Peter Van Raalte to form Lincolnshire Management, a private equity firm. Mr. Kumble served as the chairman of the company from the time it was established until 2005, when he became the chairman of the board of directors for Corinthian Capital. Mr. Kumble served on the dean’s advisory board at his alma mater, Harvard Law School, and as a member of the advisory board for the RAND Institute for Civil Justice. He also served on active duty as first lieutenant in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. Although he is renowned for investing in big businesses with major profits, he has also invested some of his own money in education. In 2007, Mr. Kumble provided financial aid to Yale University in support of international studies and internships abroad. He engaged in this philanthropic endeavor to promote a global educational experience. Not only has Mr. Kumble served on the boards of various corporations he has founded, but he has also served as vice chairman of the board of directors at Long Island University, where he received an honorary Doctor of Laws in English.
