162 MILLENNIUM A diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Benjamin Dichter Gordon has maintained a career as a pediatrician, health facility administrator and educator for over three decades. Dr. Gordon has served as a rotating intern and assistant resident in pediatrics at Kings County Hospital; an assistant resident in pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center; a research fellow at Irvington- House; a medical practitioner specializing in pediatrics at Stratford & Bridgeport Connecticut; and as an associate attendant in the emergency department of Bridgeport Hospital. In addition to his active service in the medical field, he has held leadership positions as an assistant director of the emergency department at Danbury Hospital, clinical director of Union Carbide, and medical director of Chesebrough-Ponds, Inc., a position he held from 1987 until his retirement in 1990. His extensive education helped him share his expertise as an assistant professor of occupational medicine at Yale University. Additionally, he became a consultant to the cosmetic industry and product-testing laboratories, as well as a consultant for the Clinical Research Center of Cape Cod. He is the author of medical and poetry books and has contributed articles to professional journals in the field. Dr. Gordon is a fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as a former member of the Barnstable District Medical Society and the Massachusetts Medical Society. He was president of the Occupational Medical Association of Connecticut and chairman of the Committee on Public Health for both the Fairfield County and Connecticut state medical societies. Involved in community activity, he was a member of the Library Board and the Board of Health for the Town of Yarmouth, Mass., serving as chairman of the latter for his last three years there. He was also a member of the Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee. Various consulting projects were accepted until November of 2013. He moved to Rockville, Md., in July.
