164 MILLENNIUM A s a young girl, Sharon Ann Gordon had a desire to teach leaders of tomorrow, and that dream was supported by her mother. Ms. Gordon has 43 years of experience imparting her knowledge to preschool and high school students as an educator. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in math, chemistry and history from Drew University and a Master of Education from Montclair University, and is certified as a secondary school mathematics teacher for the seventh through 12 th grades by the New Jersey Board of Examiners. While obtaining a master’s degree, she began working as a math teacher for Sparta High School in New Jersey, remaining there from 1968 until retiring in 2000. Having taught at the same high school she graduated from for nearly 35 years, she remained passionate about supporting and mentoring youth, serving as a teacher’s aide for Circle of Friends Pre-School in Sparta from 2000 to 2011. Ms. Gordon continues to be involved in education through her memberships with the National Education Association, the Sussex County Retired Educators Association, and the New Jersey Retired Educators Association. She also serves as a member of the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America and the Sparta United Methodist Church choir. With a passion and talent for writing as her hobby, she received a creative writing award from Centenary College in 1963. Though retired, Ms. Gordon enjoys sharing her knowledge in any capacity and receiving letters from former students thanking her for her efforts and contributions to their success. She has been featured in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of American Women.
