213 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine A t the age of 10, Jane P. Johnson wrote her first poem, igniting a fire within that would continue to grow and smolder well into her adulthood. After being published in a local Danville, Ky., newspaper, she began writing more and eventually caught the attention of her teachers, who noticed her gift and encouraged her to pursue her passion fully. In the years since, she has earned a reputation as a world-class poet, journalist and lyricist whose work is inspired by her faith and patriotism. The recipient of an honorary doctoral degree from the London Institute of Applied Research, Ms. Johnson is also a graduate of Light University, the Famous Writers School and the Newspaper Institute of America. Under the pen name of Penny Johnson, her published works include a book of poetry titled “A Penny For Your Thoughts” and individual poems such as “Heaven Awaits” and “What Is It?” She has also written songs for a holiday music CD, including “Christmas Wishes,” “Unspeakable Love” and “The Miracle of Christmas,” and contributed to a gospel songbook distributed by HillTop Records. In addition to utilizing her gifts to communicate with the world, Ms. Johnson is also a Christian counselor who participated in Caring for People God’sWay, a premier training program that equips people with the tools to offer compassionate, biblically based care, direction and encouragement. Whether it is through writing poetry or being active in her community, she is inspired by her faith to be of service to others and contribute in any way she can. Over the years, Ms. Johnson has received numerous accolades for her work, including 28 Editor’s Choice Awards from the National Library of Poetry, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Famous Poets Institute, and induction into the International Poetry Hall of Fame in 1996. She has been listed inWho’s Who of AmericanWomen, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America andWho’s Who in the South and Southwest, and she also received a special commission signed by Presidents Ford, Reagan and both Bushes for lifetime contributions to the Republican Party.
