280 MILLENNIUM L awrence Charles Mohr has over five decades of experience in the field of medicine. Since 1994 Dr. Mohr has been employed with the Medical University of South Carolina, where he has served as a professor of medicine and director of the environmental bioscience program since 1995. In addition to his lengthy career at the institution, he was an associate clinical professor of medicine at The George Washington University from 1990 to 1994. Having served in the U.S. Army as a commissioned second lieutenant and advanced through the ranks to become colonel, Dr. Mohr held several positions in military facilities as a medical intern, resident in medicine, chief resident, attending physician, pulmonary fellow, command surgeon and medical consultant. He was also a White House physician, and an assistant and associate professor of medicine at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. To prepare for his career, he earned a Bachelor of Arts with honors and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Carolina in 1975 and 1979 respectively. Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Mohr edited “International Case Studies in Risk Assessment and Management” and “Biomarkers: Medical and Workplace Applications” and has contributed to professional journals and books. A former attending physician at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital and Charleston Memorial Hospital, he has been a member of the Working Group on Presidential Disability since 1995. His dedication to the field has earned him several honors, including the Erskine Award and recognition as an Outstanding Medical Resident. As a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Mohr affiliates himself with the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Army and Navy Club, and the Order of Military Medical Merit.
