202 MILLENNIUM D r. C. Stuart Houston is a specialist in radiology celebrating over 50 years in medicine. Coming from a family of doctors, it was only befitting that Dr. Houston would pursue the same career. He followed in his parents’ footsteps when he attended the University of Manitoba in 1951 and obtained a Doctor of Medicine. After graduating, he began working with his parents at their private internal medicine practice from 1951 to 1960. Having gained the necessary experience to venture off on his own, Dr. Houston became a demonstrator in anatomy at the University of Saskatchewan from 1960 to 1961. He remained at the institution, where he has held several positions, including teaching fellow in radiology, lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor, professor, and head of department until gaining emeritus status in 1995. Dr. Houston has contributed his medical expertise as a writer, publishing works in medical texts, various medical journals, book reviews, abstracts, and editorials. In addition to his career as a doctor, he is well-versed in natural history, which has been an interest since his early teenage years. His passion inspired him to publish various nature-related books, which has gained him recognition as one of the leading authorities on birds in Canada. Dr. Houston is a member of numerous organizations, including the Canadian Society for the History of Medicine, for which he was president from 1987 to 1989. He has received many awards, but his biggest achievement was being the only doctor to be elected as honorary president of the Student Medical Society at the University of Saskatchewan for three separate terms: 1973 to 1974, 1987 to 1988, and 1994 to 1995. Dr. Houston’s dedication has contributed to his success in the field of medicine. C. Stuart Houston, MD Radiologist University of Saskatchewan Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada
