203 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine L icensed hematologist and oncologist Dr. Yiwu Huang utilizes his skills and expertise to treat those with cancer and blood disorders. Born in China, Dr. Huang received a Bachelor of Medicine from Fujian Medical University in 1984 and a PhD from Peking Union Medical College in 1989 before beginning his career in the field of medicine. After earning his credentials, he migrated to the United States and began imparting his knowledge to students at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, serving in that position for two years before becoming a full instructor. In 1997 Dr. Huang relocated to New York, where he became a medical resident at Staten Island University Hospital. Since moving to the East Coast, he has served in various capacities for a number of prominent medical institutions. These include Maimonides Medical Center, where he was an attending physician in the division of hematology and medical oncology, medical director of Asian community outreach, and program director for the hematology/ oncology fellowship program. He has been an associate professor of clinical medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine since 2013 and an adjunct associate professor of medicine at the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine since 2016. Dr. Huang is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. He has earned many accolades for his work, including the 70 th Anniversary Outstanding Alumni Award from Fujian Medical University, the Resident Dedicated to Research Award from Staten Island University Hospital, and recognition as the Maimonides Cancer Center Doctor of the Year in 2010. His research interests include new therapeutic approaches for gastrointestinal malignancies, brain tumors, lung cancers, hematologic malignancies, and immunotherapy.
