205 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine D r. Rachel I. Huot is a primary care physician who examines and treats patients with a wide range of conditions and refers those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility. Dr. Huot has been providing continuous, comprehensive health care to individuals and families for over four decades. Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and licensed as a practitioner in Virginia, she began her career as a senior technician for Microbiology Associates in 1974. After serving in that position for three years, she became a chemist at the Uniformed Services University of Health and Sciences. She continued passionately providing health care to those in need as a resident in family practice at three facilities before becoming a family physician. During her career, Dr. Huot has shared her expertise in many journals in her field and has been a patient educator volunteer for the Martin Luther King Clinic, CHRISTUS Health, and the American Red Cross. She has also taught future physicians as an instructor at UT Health Science Center and an assistant professor and director of basic urologic research at Louisiana State University. Dr. Huot obtained a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Rivier College in 1972, a Master of Science and PhD in biology from the Catholic University of America in 1976 and 1980, respectively, and a Doctor of Medicine from LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans in 2000. Her continued success in the field has afforded her many accolades, including the Young Investigator Award and grants from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. She remains active in her field as a member of several organizations, including the American Medical Association and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Rachel I.
