Gilbert Jones is a lawyer who specializes in professional liability defense, which includes medical and legal malpractice, product liability, wrongful termination, bad faith, general business matters and drug cases. He received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Yale University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from UCLA. Mr. Jones began his legal career as a member and partner of Overton, Lyman & Prince LLP and later became a founding partner of Bonne Bridges Mueller O’Keefe & Nichols, with which he remained for 30 years. Presently, Mr. Jones serves as counsel to Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, a position he has held since 1992. Over the course of his 60-year legal career, he has reached several milestones, including being named the Defendant Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2014 and one of the Best Lawyers in America. However, his biggest accomplishment to date was establishing his private practice in 2001. Mr. Jones was on the board of directors of the Wilshire YMCA from 1969 to 1975 and served his country with the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. He is affiliated with many legal organizations, including the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Orange County Bar Association. Mr. Jones, who has enjoyed sailing his entire life, crewed on a small sailboat after the Cold War and was on the sailing team at Yale University in 1945. Some of his sailing accomplishments include sailing to Europe, Alaska and the Caribbean and serving as commodore of the Transpacific Yacht Club and the Newport Harbor Yacht Club, with which he is currently affiliated as a staff commodore.
