259 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine A fter reading just a few pages of Greta Manville’s 2003 suspense novel, “Murder Online,” it’s easy to see why her work has earned first-prize awards in contests sponsored by SouthWest Writers and Authorlink, which provide publishing resources to independent authors. With a writing style that is refreshingly unique and relies on direct, descriptive language to paint a picture of power, lust and danger, this book and others written by Ms. Manville have been lauded for their intricate plots and ability to keep readers guessing until the end. Born in Clarinda, Iowa, Ms. Manville now lives in Arizona, where she spends most of her time writing mystery and suspense novels and participating in writing conferences and workshops. Also an editor, reviewer and bibliographer, she completed a John Steinbeck Fellowship at San Jose State University from 2002 to 2003, which culminated with an annotated bibliography that exists as a research tool for students, teachers, scholars, and anyone with a general interest in his work. She has also served as a reviewer and bibliographer for Steinbeck Review, a biannual, peer-reviewed journal that is published by the Martha Heasley Cox Center for Steinbeck Studies and includes articles, essays and photos about the famed American novelist. As the editor of “Transitions,” which was released in 2011 as a paperback and e-book, she utilized her extensive knowledge of the publication process to help several members of the Phoenix Northwest Valley Branch of the American Association of University Women’s creative writing interest group bring their work to life. With respect to her own catalog, in addition to “Murder Online,” Ms. Manville wrote and published “The Purgatory Trail” (2001), “Death Key” (2005), and “Flight Into Reality” (2012). She holds membership in the Arizona Authors’ Association, for which she previously served as treasurer, and the Desert Sleuths Chapter of Sisters in Crime, an international organization for female mystery and crime writers.
