273 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine Y efkin Megherian has utilized her passion and expertise to hone her skills as a sculptor since 1986. To prepare for her career, Ms. Megherian earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from the University at Albany in 1945 and 1946 respectively, and an Associate of Science in art from Queensborough Community College in 1994. For 19 years, she has served in public education holding positions, including a high school science teacher at Warwick Valley Central School from 1946 to 1947 and as a teacher for the New York City Board of Education from 1967 to 1985. Additionally, she has served the church community as a church school supervisor at Armenian Church of the Holy Martyrs, Queens, N.Y, from 1955 to 1972, as secretary of The Council for Religious Education at Diocese Armenian Church from 1956 to 1961and as a consultant for bronze doors at St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral, NYC, from 2002 to 2009. Ms. Megherian has participated in international medallic shows, including ones in Scotland, Belgium and Bulgaria. Throughout her career she has reached many accomplishments, including sculpting a bust of Archbishop Tiran Nersoyan, which is prominently displayed in the Founders Garden at St. Nersess Armenian Seminary in Armonk, N.Y. She also completed a medallion of Aram Khachaturian, famous Armenian composer, and has a medallion in the collection of the British Museum. Ms. Megherian was married to Reverend Vartan Megherian, an Armenian priest, for 37 years prior to his death. She remains active in the field as a member of the Pen and Brush, Inc., the Federation International de la Medaille, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the American Medallic Sculpture Association and the National Sculpture Society.
