304 MILLENNIUM F or over 48 years, Alceste Thetis Pappas has provided strategic, unbiased and objective advisory services that have assisted organizations in improving productivity and overall performance. In 1969, she began working at her alma mater, the University of California, Berkeley, where she was director of student-young alumni affairs, director of residential programs, and director of housing and child care. Soon thereafter, she began working for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. as a senior consultant and manager and was shortly promoted to senior manager. In the years that followed, she worked for KPMG as a partner in charge of their education and other institutions practice until becoming president and chief executive officer of the Pappas Consulting Group, Inc., a role she has served in since 1992. Although she is very involved in her position, she remains a prominent speaker in the field. Dr. Pappas is the author of several monographs and “Reengineering Your Non-Profit Organization: A Guide to Strategic Transformation,” and she has also contributed articles to professional journals. She is a member of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, for which she served on the board of directors and financial committee from 1984 to 1989, and the planning committee from 1988 to 1989. Also affiliated with the Order of the Kentucky Colonels, she was inducted to the YWCA Academy of Women Achievers and received an award from the National Management Association. To prepare for her career, she earned a Bachelor of Arts and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Education from Harvard University.
