321 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine P aul Craig Roberts has been a prominent figure in the field of economics for decades. Preparation for his successful career included a Bachelor of Science from Georgia Tech, postgraduate work at the University of California, Berkeley, and Oxford University, where he studied under Warren Nutter, a future assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs and the future Nobel prize-winning economists James M. Buchanan and Ronald Coase. Over the course of his career, he has held academic positions at many universities, including Virginia Tech, the University of New Mexico, Stanford University and Georgetown University, where he was appointed the William E. Simon chair of political economy at Georgetown University’s Center for Strategic and International Studies. The skills and experience he gained in these positions allowed him to author 12 books, which have been translated into many languages. As an innovator in economic theory, Dr. Roberts was an originator of supply-side economics and was appointed assistant secretary of the treasury for economic policy by President Reagan. He has served on the congressional staff and as a consultant to the U.S. Departments of Commerce and Defense. He was an associate editor and columnist for The Wall Street Journal and a columnist for Businessweek, Scripps Howard News Service, Creators Syndicate, and French and Italian newspapers. His business experience includes service on the boards of directors of the global corporation A. Schulman and the Value Line Funds in New York and as a consultant to J.P. Morgan and Lazard Frères. As a leader in the field of economic and serious journalism, he has received many awards, including the Meritorious Service Award from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Public Service Award from the General Services Administration and the International Journalism Award from the Press Club of Mexico.
