325 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine A s alternate executive director of the International Monetary Fund, Jose Alejandro Rojas Ramirez is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic planning of both organizations. His extensive educational background has led to his success in the field for over two decades. Dr. Rojas Ramirez prepared for his career by earning a Bachelor of Science in mathematical statistics from the Central University of Venezuela. Soon after, he graduated with honors from Pantheon- Assas University in Paris, earning a Master of Science in mathematical economics and econometrics and a Ph.D. in econometrics. Still passionate about learning as much as he could, he obtained further training in energy economics, senior company management and energy models at the IFP School. At the beginning of his career, Dr. Rojas Ramirez applied his knowledge and expertise to his role as deputy minister and senior economist for the Ministry of Hacienda. In that capacity he designed and implemented budgetary policy improvements in addition to automating and digitalizing the treasury, external debt records and debt management processes. After leaving that position, he began working as minister of finance for the Republic of Venezuela before becoming executive director of the Inter-American Developmental Bank and the Inter-American Investment Corporation. Dr. Rojas Ramirez also became president of finance and planning at Petróleos de Venezuela, where he re-established and restructured the auditing and internal control department processes, and was an advisor to the president of Banco Central De Venezuela from 2005 to 2006. His accomplishments include receiving a Ph.D. with highest honors and being featured in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World. He has shared his knowledge with future professionals at his alma mater, the Central University of Venezuela.
