326 MILLENNIUM J iro Ono once said, “You must immerse yourself in your work. You have to fall in love with your work …you must dedicate your life to mastering your skill. That’s the secret of success.” William C. Rorick, assistant professor emeritus at the CUNY Queens College Music Library, took heed to those words before embarking on his career as an artist. Mr. Rorick obtained a Bachelor of Arts in economics and business administration from Ohio Wesleyan University, a Bachelor of Music in music history and literature from the University of Utah, a Master of Music in history and literature from Northwestern University, a Master of Library Science from Pratt Institute, and a Master of Arts in musicology from New York University. In the midst of completing his education, he took on the roles of curator of the orchestral-choral library, reference assistant, and office manager of the Manhattan School of Music Library. He left the institution and made the music library at Queens College his home, holding the positions of music reference librarian, instructor and assistant professor during his time there. Mr. Rorick is actively involved in his field through his affiliations with the Hudson Valley Art Association, Inc., Allied Artists of America, the American Artists Professional League, Audubon Artists, the Connecticut Pastel Society, Inc., and the Kent Art Association. He received a grant from the Research Foundation of The City University of New York and has contributed work to many professional journals throughout his career. He has been the recipient of local and regional art awards, such as Best in Show from the Connecticut Classic Arts Association, as well as an award from the Allied Arts Association for his graphic pencil drawings “My Momentos.” William C.
