331 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine W ith over 40 years of experience in his field, Solomon Kal Rudman is a broadcasting pioneer. Mr. Rudman’s passion for the music and entertainment industry was ignited when he was a kid. However, before embarking on a career as a successful publishing executive, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in education at the University of Pennsylvania in 1951 and a Master of Science in education at Temple University in 1957. He then served as chairman of the department of special education at Franklin D. Roosevelt Middle School in Bristol Township, Pa., for eight years. Never losing sight of his dreams, in 1968 Mr. Rudman created and began publishing Friday Morning Quarterback, a trade magazine that covers the radio and music industries in the United States. His fruitful career in the entertainment industry has allowed him to experience being in a variety of roles, namely as a frequent guest on “The Merv Griffin Show,” a music expert for “The Today Show,” and a guest on the “The Tomorrow Show” with Tom Snyder. Mr. Rudman’s passion and dedication contributed to the creation of The Kal and Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies in 2004. The institute utilizes resources within Drexel University’s Westphal College of Media Arts & Design and the knowledge of broadcasting experts to aid students in achieving their future goals. Mr. Rudman has served on many boards in his field, including those of the Philadelphia Music Alliance and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. His achievements include helping to establish the musical theater department at the University of Arts in Philadelphia and the first Police Athletic League in Abington, Penn., and launching Pro QB, a music trade magazine. His contributions to his field have garnered him numerous awards and recognition, as well as several honorary doctorates from various institutions.
