335 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine K laus Hermann Sames is a retired anatomist, gerontologist, researcher and educator who served in the scientific field for over three decades. To prepare for his career, Dr. Sames obtained a medical degree from the University of Münster and a habilitation doctoral degree from the University of Erlangen and became a registered medical practitioner. He imparted his knowledge to future scientists as a lecturer in pathology and anatomy at Heidelberg University and the University of Hamburg from 1971 to 1985. He took the skills he acquired at both institutions and became a senior lecturer in anatomy and an anatomy and experimental gerontology professor at the Free University of Berlin. Teaching until his retirement in 2004, Dr. Sames eventually served as deputy anatomy professor at the University of Heidelberg, the University of Freiburg, the University of Zurich and the University of Hamburg, as well as personal chair for the University of Hamburg and University of Berlin. Dr. Sames has contributed his knowledge of various scientific subjects as an editor and co-editor of several handbooks, as well as articles written for professional journals. He remains active within the field as a member and founder of two German societies of human biostasis, an honorary member of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, a member and chairman of the biology and aging section of the German Society for Gerontology and Geriatrics, and a member of the New York Academy of Sciences. He is the recipient of a grant from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, one of the largest research funding organizations in Europe. Dr. Sames has been featured in Who’s Who in the World.
