Dr. Scherer carries with her 44 years of professional experience as a psychologist, professor and researcher. Before delving into academia she served as an editor for the Mental Health Association from 1973 to 1980. She later served as a psychotherapist for the Erie County Department of Mental Health for two years. As she continued to move further in her career she solidified positions at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf and the University of Buffalo. Additionally she has served as an assistant professor of psychology at Eastman School of Music, senior research associate for the International Center Hearing and Speech Research. Aside from her academic career, she also serves as the president and director of the Institute for Matching Person & Technology, a position she has held since 1997. Her career is backed by a Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University, a Master of Science from the State University of New York in Buffalo and a Master of Public Health and Ph.D. from the University of Rochester.
