Marquis Who's Who Millennium Magazine
350 MILLENNIUM A li Sheikh is a seasoned IT leader with 25 years of operational, consulting and leadership experience across the globe, as well as a proven record of delivering complex, large- scale business transformations using SAP/ IT as the technology backbone. Over the years, Mr. Sheikh has led multibusiness, multicountry and multivendor IT programs of increasing complexity, comprising up to 80,000 man hours, 13 teams, 40 people and more than 10 countries. Highlights of his career include delivering an 18-month “cannot fail” global program on time, with to-the-day accuracy; authoring and deploying global business templates in the Fortune 100 space; and rescuing and turning around several at-risk projects. As a former client of Mr. Sheikh had put it, “Ali’s ability to take an undefined situation and frame it, put a plan around it, make estimates for time and keep to that time is a truly refined skill that can only come with great insight and experience.” Armed with a B.S. in engineering and an MBA in finance, Mr. Sheikh started his career with Toyota in 1992 and switched to consulting in the late 1990s. Over the years, he has led more than 10 IT projects enabling business transformations, mergers, divestments and global rollouts. Along the way, he rose through the ranks to his current position of program director and chief solution architect — and, more importantly, he had the opportunity to build many an A-team and mentor his junior colleagues. When not at work, Mr. Sheikh likes to write fiction. His recent novel, “Closure of the Help Desk —A Geek Tragedy,” has been hailed “clearly the work of an insider to both high finance and technology,” and as “hilarious and tragic at the same time.” The book has so far gathered 30,000 fans on Facebook spread across 30 countries. In the coming years, Mr. Sheikh intends to transition from his current avatar of “outside leader brought in to deliver things” to more of a “resident leader who will own it and see it through.” His ideal position would be an executive leadership role in the manufacturing industry, in which he would be responsible for delivering business improvement and transformation by using IT as an enabler.
