366 MILLENNIUM H aving received his first Kodak camera at 12 and realized his gift for capturing the essence of a scene, Harry Stainrook knew since the tender age of 16 that he wanted to be a photographer. He was driven to become successful and dreamed of photographing for National Geographic. However, when he informed his family of his dream, they advised him to pursue a career in banking. Taking heed to his family’s advice, Mr. Stainrook became a banker, never losing his love for photography. He started his career as the manager of bank operations at First Pennsylvania Bank. Mr. Stainrook remained with the company for 29 years, advancing to several positions, including assistant vice president of the branch, vice president and manager of the London office, vice president of the international department, senior vice president of the commercial group, and executive vice president of trust and investments. In 1985 he became executive vice president of trust and investments at M&T Bank, where he would remain from 1985 until his retirement in 1997. During his successful career as a banker, Mr. Stainrook never stopped photographing. His work has been featured in many art galleries across the United States and in solo exhibitions at the Yoga Center of Haddonfield from 2012 to 2015 and the Art Dialogue Gallery in Buffalo in 2006 and 2008. Mr. Stainrook, who remains active in the creative arts community as a member of the Western New York Artists Group, presently uses a digital camera to capture his art.
