392 MILLENNIUM P aul-Andre Turcotte is a theologian, researcher, social scientist and educator with over 40 years of professional experience. Born in Saint-Cuthbert, Quebec, Dr. Turcotte has been imparting his knowledge to students in a postsecondary capacity in regions all over Canada. To prepare for his career, he earned a Bachelor of Arts at the Cégep régional de Lanaudière, a Bachelor of Education at Université Laval, a Master of Arts in theology and canonical logic from Université de Montréal, a Ph.D. in social science from École Pratique des Hautes Études, and a Doctor of Theology from the Institut Catholique de Paris. He began his career as a professor and member of the faculty of theology at the University of Haiti in Port- au-Prince, where he served for four years before taking a similar position at the University of Montreal from 1984 to 1985. He took a 13-year break from 1987 to 2000 to conduct research at the University of Ottawa. Thereafter, he resumed teaching as a professor at several institutions in Canada. Dr. Turcotte remains abreast of his field as a member of the International Council of Museums, UNESCO, the International Society for the Sociology of Religion, the International Association of French-speaking Sociologists, the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion, the Association for the Sociology of Religion, and the Institute of Canadian and Aboriginal Studies. He contributed his knowledge beyond the classroom as an editor and the author of more than 250 papers, articles in professional journals, and book chapters. His dedication has not gone unnoticed, as he received the Provincial Bank Prize from the faculty of theology at the University of Montreal in 1970 and the Best Publication Award from the Canadian Society for the Study of Education in 1989.
