393 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine A s a financial services executive, James Unruh brings 53 years of professional experience to his role as founding principal of Alerion Capital Group LLC. After beginning his career in 1964, Mr. Unruh has since held roles as the vice president of finance for several companies, including the Burroughs Corporation, now known as the Unisys Corporation. During his tenure with the company, he was promoted to senior vice president, executive vice president of finance, president, chief operating officer, chief executive officer, and chairman of the board. After working for Unisys for 15 years, Mr. Unruh went on to found Alerion Capital Group LLC, a venture capital and private equity firm that provides recapitalizations, management buyouts, leveraged buyouts, divestitures, strategic acquisition and industry consolidation, among other specialties. He has served on many boards, including those of Prudential Financial, Inc., Tenet Healthcare Corporation, CSG Systems International Inc., and Qwest Communications International Inc. Currently Mr. Unruh serves as a trustee and chairman of the board for his alma mater, the University of Jamestown, formerly Jamestown College. Mr. Unruh has utilized his knowledge and experience to author a book entitled “Customers Mean Business: Six Steps to Building Relationships That Last.” His extensive career is backed by a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Jamestown College, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver, and a Doctor of Laws from Drexel University. Mr. Unruh received a North Dakota National Leadership Award of Excellence and an Eleanor Roosevelt Humanitarian Award, and was a CEO of the Year honoree at the Enterprise Awards. He has been featured in several versions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the World.
