445 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine R obert Conrad made his broadcasting debut at the age of 14, when he began working for WKAN in Kankakee, Illinois. More than 50 years later, after serving in the military, receiving several honorary music degrees, and performing with area ensembles as a narrator, Mr. Conrad remains as involved and passionate as ever. Currently an adjunct broadcasting professor in a joint music program offered by the Cleveland Institute of Music and Case Western Reserve University, he also serves on the board of directors of The Music Settlement and The Cleveland Orchestra board of trustees. As an executive with WCLV, branded WCLV Classical 104.9, he is committed to preserving classical music, both on the Ohio radio airwaves and in the hearts and minds of those who love this time-tested art form. Mr. Conrad was an announcer and operations manager for WFMT in Chicago and a program director for Detroit’s WDTM (now WDTW-FM) before co-founding WCLV in 1962. In recognition of his contributions to the field, he received a Distinguished Service Award from The Cleveland Orchestra and was named Program Director of the Year by Billboard Magazine in 1982. P eggy Mary Margaret Cooper is a talented artist and educator whose hard work and dedication have contributed to her successful career. Ms. Cooper leapt into her education career head-on, becoming a founding teacher of several institutions, including Creative Arts, Inc. in Illinois, the Holly/Lamar School of the Arts in Colorado, and Children’s Garden, where she’s been working since 1991. She has utilized her passion to obtain positions such as artistic director of the Comedia Dance Co., artist-in- residence for Colorado Humanities, and arts director of Tom Sawyer Camps. Her artistic abilities include composing children’s operas, poetry and illustrations. She continues to stay active within her community as a presenter and writer for community events and serves on the boards of arts-related organizations. Ms. Cooper has received many awards for her diligence as an artist and educator, including the Choral Arts Award and being recognized as a Richards Institute Scholar, California Art Club Scholar, Pasadena City College Scholar, and Outstanding Young Woman.
