475 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine R esearch scientists like Michel Henri Koch are responsible for designing, undertaking and analyzing information from controlled laboratory-based investigations, experiments and trials. For 29 years, Dr. Koch honed his scientific skills as a group leader for the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Hamburg, Germany. Prior to his tenure in that position, he also served as a consultant to Janssen Pharmaceutica from 1975 to 1976. He has reached many achievements in his career, including research in structural studies on biological macromolecules and synthetic polymers using synchrotron radiation. Dr. Koch continues to be a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Chemical Society. His hard work and dedication has awarded him the Empain Prize from the University Foundation in Belgium and has allowed him to be featured in the 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, and 31st editions of Who’s Who in the World. His extensive professional experience in the field is backed by a Ph.D. in chemistry from Université catholique de Louvain. F or more than seven decades James Weldon Kuhlman has harvested crops and raised living organisms for food and raw materials. To prepare for his career Mr. Kuhlman earned a Bachelor of Science fromWest Texas State University in 1959 and a Master of Science from the University of Nebraska in 1961. During his professional career as a farmer, he also delved into education as a teacher for West Texas State University in 1958. He remained in that position for a year before becoming a graduate assistant at the University of Nebraska. Through the experiences and skills he gained from both positions, Mr. Kuhlman took on the role of Buffalo County extension agent and chair from 1967 to 1972. He continued to take on similar positions, including Worth County extension director from 1972 to 1981 and Cerro Gordo County extension education director from 1981 to his retirement in 1997 for Iowa State University. Mr. Kuhlman remains active in the field through his affiliations and memberships, including the National Association County Agricultural Agents, the Iowa Hereford Breeders Association, American Hereford Association, and the Iowa Agricultural Extension Association.
