483 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine M arsha L. Meyers developed a passion for helping those in need as a young girl. Ms. Meyers worked with families to support them through difficult times as a social worker. She loved and respected her grandparents, which helped her realize that she could make a difference in the lives of the elderly. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Olivet Nazarene University and shortly after became a licensed social worker in Ohio. Ms. Meyers was also a social work coordinator for the Mercy Memorial Hospital System, in which she did hospice, intensive care, emergency room, and inpatient work. She was the practicum site supervisor for social work students of eight universities. Outside of social work, she previously served on the board of directors of the Champaign County chapter of the American Cancer Society and was a member of the Mercy Memorial Hospital’s Home Health Care advisory board. Her contributions earned her the Social Worker of the Year Award for excellence in small departments from the Ohio Society of Hospital Social Workers and the Social Worker of the Year Award from the Phi Alpha Theta chapter at Cedarville University. R obert Miess is a professor of chemistry who imparts his vast knowledge of the subject to undergraduates at Mayville State University. Dr. Miess received a Bachelor of Science at Viterbo University in 1986, and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 1992. A year after obtaining his doctorate, he became an assistant professor at Mayville State University. After making the institution his home, he was promoted to associate professor in 1998. His efforts and dedication earned him the position of chair of the science and math division, which he has been for 19 years. His desire to educate and remain active within the field has aided in his success. He is a member of the American Chemical Society and has received many awards, including being named Outstanding Public Employee of the Year by the North Dakota Public Employee Association in 1998 and Teacher of the Year by Mayville State University’s student senate in 2006 and 2007. He also serves his community as a treasurer for the Mayville Congregational United Church of Christ, a position he has held since 1997. Marsha L.
