484 MILLENNIUM H er dedication and drive to serve the community propelled Lynn Millane to become a municipal official. In 1982, Mrs. Millane began serving as a council member on the Amherst Town Board, where she would make her mark and establish a successful career. She also served the board as deputy town supervisor and supervisor — she was the first one to hold each role. Her achievements within the organization allowed her to serve as a liaison to the town’s ethics board. Despite retiring, Mrs. Millane’s eagerness and passion for serving her community have not withered. In fact, she continues to build on her extensive resume of volunteerism. Some of the organizations with which she has been affiliated with are the Erie County Bar Association, the Women’s Committee of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Longview Protestant Home for Children. An avid defender of senior citizens’ rights, Mrs. Millane has landed positions with both the Aging Services Advisory Committee and the New York State Office for the Aging. Her longevity in municipal work earned her the Woman of Distinction Award from the New York State Senate in 2003. F or over four decades Stephen Ralph Miller has imparted his legal prowess at McDermott, Will & Emery. To prepare for his successful career Mr. Miller earned a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University in 1972, a Juris Doctor from Cornell University in 1975, and subsequently was admitted to the Illinois State Bar. He began his tenure at the firm as an associate and worked through the ranks obtaining positions as an income partner, equity partner, management committee member, and of counsel, a position he has held since 2006. In addition to his career he was a member of the special task force on post- employment benefits for the Financial Accounting Standards Board in Norwalk, Conn. Mr. Miller is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Center for Companies That Care, the Nordic Law Club, the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network, the Chicago Bar Association, the 100 Club of Chicago, the Cornell Club of Chicago, the Lawyers' Club of Chicago and the Yale Club of Chicago. His accomplishments include contributing articles to many professional journals in the field and being named Illinois’ Super Lawyers in 2010.
