507 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine B rian Travers-Smith is a talented, self-taught watercolorist and instructor. At a young age, Mr. Travers-Smith and his family were placed in isolation, as his community thought him to be infectious due to whooping cough. During his time alone, he began sketching birds to pass the time. He would go out with his uncle, who was an engineer and painter, and watch as he painted his surroundings. When he came of age, he relocated to Canada to pursue his career in painting, and then attended OCAD University to study art once acclimated to his surroundings. He later began working at CT Financial Services, Inc. as a wills officer during the day while painting at night. Mr. Travers-Smith’s dedication allowed him to keep his strict policy of completing paintings in one session. Inspired by artist and designer Allan Edwards, he soon resigned from his position and built a studio near his home. His achievements include winning first prize in an art contest, receiving the Royal Jubilee Medal, and being featured in many art galleries in Canada and New York. He is a member of the American Watercolor Society and an honorary member of Allied Artists of America.
