Born in Bolivia, Dr. Zilveti obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Sacred Heart College, Sucre and an MD at the University of San Francisco Xavier before migrating to the United States, where he obtained a Master of Public Health at Yale University. He held several positions as a resident, regional medical officer and consultant throughout his career and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1991 as a consultant in aerospace-preventative medicine for the Wilford Hall Medical Center. He gained emeritus status with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Preventive Medicine. He is also a member of the American Public Health Association, the American Medical Association, the Maine Public Health Association and the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Dr. Zilveti has contributed his knowledge to the field by writing articles in professional journals and serving as a consultant to the Food and Drug Administration and the Head Start program through the American Academy of Pediatrics.
