62 MILLENNIUM D r. Rose Brault’s journey to becoming a successful advanced registered nurse practitioner and educator was not an easy one. Around the time Dr. Brault entered nursing school, women were not allowed to gain any form of medicinal education. However, she was determined to fulfill her lifelong goal. With the influence of her grandfather, who was a physician, and her father, who was a dentist, she was given the options of entering the education or nursing fields, resulting in her applying to the top nursing college in Boston and subsequently getting accepted. She earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Boston College in 1966, as well as a Master of Science in nursing and a Doctor of Education from Boston University in 1977 and 1985, respectively. During her 51-year-long career, she held positions as a nurse and nurse practitioner for Heartland Internal Medicine Associates, Health Essentials Inc., and Good Shepherd Hospice. In addition to being the liaison between patients and physicians, she has also imparted her skills and experience of the medical field to future nurses as an associate professor at CHA Everett Hospital, formerly known as Whidden Memorial Hospital and the Boston University Medical Center. She also served as an instructor of pediatric nursing, medical nursing and surgery at the College of Central Florida; an associate professor at the University of Central Florida, Florida Southern College, and South University; and an adjunct associate professor at American Sentinel University, a position she held until her retirement in 2015. Dr. Brault is a fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and has been featured in many editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Nursing, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of American Women.
