428 MILLENNIUM M elinda Younan specializes in aural rehabilitation for children with cochlear implants and plans the rehabilitation of hearing-impaired adults. Ms. Younan is well-versed in tinnitus management and does extensive research to ensure that her patients receive the proper care. With a bachelor’s degree in audiology, a master’s degree in science and audiology, a graduate certificate in international health and a diploma in theology, she has been able to enjoy a successful career. Ms. Younan grew up in a highly educated family, excelled in high school and had a desire to pursue medicine. However, certain circumstances out of her control hindered her dreams. Encouraged by her sister, who was studying gynecology and obstetrics at the time, she decided to pursue audiology as a career. Ms. Younan currently provides free services to Costco Wholesale customers who experience hypersensitivity to loudness. Her dedication and drive to help others have led to many gratifying experiences, including the opportunity to share her knowledge and experience with likeminded individuals. She enjoys teaching, coaching, training and supervising future audiologists, as she is helping them to succeed and follow their passion like she was encouraged to do. Ms. Younan remains active in her field through her affiliations and memberships in the Audiological Society of Australia, the Educational Audiology Association and the International Society of Audiology. She continues to be a servant of her community through volunteer work for various refugee rights and support organizations. A bilingual interpreter, she is also involved in human rights activities and advocates on behalf of asylum-seekers in legal matters. She attributes her success to her goal- oriented focus, as well as her ability to recognize and seize opportunities.
