240 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SCIENCES, PHARMACEUTICALS AND BIOTECHNOLOGY As the owner and operator of Big Dave’s Custom Surveying & Design, a P&M Bear Global LLC Company, David P. Marthey has excelled in the agricultural industry for several decades. Through his business, he operates two polaris ranger diesel-powered all-terrain vehicles. Utilizing this equipment with mounted GPS computer systems, topographical survey data is taken and transferred to a notebook computer which has landleveling and land forming design software. The combination of topographical data and design software enables Mr. Marthey to design the fields so that landleveling contractors and farmers with their own landleveling equipment can cut the fields to a precise slope, so that irrigation and drainage achieve maximum efficiency. To date, Big Dave’s Custom Surveying & Design is acclaimed throughout the Mississippi Delta region as the most competent independent agricultural land surveying service. Earlier, Mr. Marthey served as a salesperson and regional sales manager for Certainteed Daymond Company, a corrugated plastic drainage tubing manufacturer, where he served for over a decade. Outside of his primary vocation, he is a lifetime member of the Twin Cessna Flyer, Kappa Alpha Order, as well as his local chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Likewise, he was a three-time chairperson of the Jonesboro-Arkansas Municipal Airport Commission, a Paul Harris fellow of the Jonesboro University Rotary Club and a chairperson of the Blessed Sacrament Fall Festival. Prior to delving into his career, Mr. Marthey earned a BA in business administration and physical education from Transylvania University in 1975. As a testament to his success, Mr. Marthey was honored as a Top Salesman by the Certainteed Daymond Company and earned a Distinguished Service Award from the Kappa Alpha Order of Transylvania University. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of surveying and designing a 600-acre rice research facility for the University of Arkansas. He attributes his success to the support and encouragement of his parents, wife and children. Looking toward the future of his life and career, he intends to experience continued growth of his business, as well as write and publish a book, tentatively titled “An Extraordinary Ordinary Man.” DAVID P.
