224 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Inherently drawn to the sciences, Dr. Douglas C. Huber decided to focus his career on the subspecialty of pathology, particularly regarding laboratory work and the diagnosis of tissue specimen. First studying at Harvard University from 1958 to 1959, he went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts in 1960 and an MD in 1964 at Emory University in Atlanta. From there, he joined the military, serving to the rank of captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps and advancing through the grades to commander of the 346th Medical Detachment in Vietnam until 1966. To date, he has accrued over 50 years of experience in medicine. Since 2003, he has served as a pathologist and medical director of the Lost Mountain Tissue Bank. Earlier in his career, Dr. Huber was a laboratory director and pathologist through WellStar Health System, serving WellStar Cobb Hospital in Cobb County, Georgia, and WellStar Paulding Hospital in Paulding County, Georgia. Likewise, he was also a laboratory director and pathologist at the Roche Biomedical Laboratory, WellStar Douglas Hospital in Georgia and the Homer D. Cobb Memorial Hospital in Alabama. Outside of his primary appointments, Dr. Huber excelled as a deputy state commissioner for the inspector program of the College of American Pathologists in Skokie, Illinois, and has been recognized as a fellow of both the College of American Pathologists and American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Moreover, Dr. Huber was president of the Vietnam Veterans of Georgia from 1982 to 1985 and served two terms as commander of American Legion Post 140; he currently thrives as post chaplain. As a testament to his success in medicine, Dr. Huber was the very first physician to earn the Best of the Best Award from WellStar Health System in 1999. Board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, as well as dermatopathology, he is recognized as an ordained minister via the Three Taverns Church and earned an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Antioch Bible Seminary in 2012.
